Andrea VILLAMIL (B. 1991) Nyc
New York–based visual storyteller from Queens, with a background in filmmaking from The New School and NYU-SCPS (2010–2013). My work interrogates culture, place, and identity with rigorous authenticity.
In 2016, I was cinematographer for the continuation of the award-winning short Searching for Shangri-La, filming in India and Bhutan. More recently, in 2023, I documented RAW’s rolling paper factories in Spain, capturing both the production process and the brand’s cultural history.
I’ve collaborated on commercial and branded projects with Pepsi, NBA, JetBlue, RAW, and Bobbi Brown. I direct, shoot, edit, and color my own work, aiming to create visuals that are honest, resonant, and socially aware. Currently freelancing throughout the U.S. Contact for collaboration+inquiries within or without of the U.S.
“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed.”
